This vitual tour is a demonstration of the choices that you can make coming to EDUC 464 on toppping off with high octane coffee.
Five initeresting lesson plans
1. Semantic Networks-
Semantic networks can be used in every subject area. I like to use webbing when discussing topics that have been read in class. For instance in my class we created a semantic web using the Seven Chronilces of Narnia. We created bubbles for each book and link the characters to each bubble(book) they were in. By using Semantic Networks we could have done this on a digital overhead.
2. Virtual Technologies
Digital cameras are an example of virtual technology. Student who are studying the forsest for instance can take you on a tour of the forrest. They could take photos of a specific list of items they have created or would like the learner to know about. Most districts have digital cameras that can be signed out for use in your classroom. This is a safe and easy way for your students to use technology in your classroom.
3. Word-type technologies
Being able to have a writing document on line for multiple users to work on is a powerful tool. When assigning a writing project to multiple students they would have the opprtunity to colaberate on the project from school, home or whereever they may be located to add or edit material. Once the students have been shown how to log into and use the program they may get started on their work as directed by the teacher.
4. Virtual Tours
You can use a virtual tour in your classroom to show your students history or science. You can use free demos to introduce disection, you can also purchase this for your school. All of you science classes may use the virtual disecetion to explore frogs, pigs,etc... This is a fun and safe way to learn about the internal organs of the specimens.
5. Podcasts
Podcasts are an interesting tool that could be used in your classroom or school. Your school could use the podcast to give daily announcements and or any school related news. In your classroom you could use it to create a learning programto be played on the web or within your school. Higher grade levels could create examples of topics to be covered in a science class or a reenactment for a history class. This is a great way to engage your students in technology.
